Michael Smith retired from the Federal Government in the Senior Executive Service with over 34 years of federal acquisition experience in contracting, program management, and logistics, and is recognized across the Government as a true innovator and transformational leader. He was a former Head of Contracting Activity and Director of Strategic Sourcing at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Michael also served as the Executive Director of the DHS Office of Selective Acquisitions (OSA) within the Office of the Chief Procurement Officer (OCPO) where he led the execution of classified and sensitive acquisitions for several DHS customers across the headquarters and component organizations.

Katherine Valltos served 34 years in federal service as a former Operational Contracting Officer and Senior Acquisition Executive. She retired in 2017 from the Department of Interior’s (DOI) Acquisition Management Directorate which is a full-service acquisition center serving not only the DOI but all other federal agencies. Katherine co-founded the Interior’s GovWorks organization which later merged into the DOI Office of the Secretary, Interior Business Center. Inter-Agency contracting provided her the unique opportunity to reach across governmental boundaries to serve a diverse and dynamic client-base of over 50 federal agencies including both the DoD and civilian agencies.

Jim Fisher is a highly motivated and creative acquisition professional with a 35-year record of results with public and private sector experience in all phases of Federal procurement. Jim provides advice and support in the areas of acquisition management, strategic planning, performance measures, benchmarking and process improvement. He has focused on improving the quality and performance of acquisition organizations, processes and best practices at several federal agencies, including Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), and at numerous companies.

Mickey Jones has had a career in Federal acquisitions as both a Federal employee and as a consultant spanning over 38 years. He served 31 years in federal service as a former Operational Contracting Officer and Senior Acquisition Executive. Mickey had leadership roles in acquisitions at the departments of Interior, Treasury and Homeland Security. As a consultant, he applies his acquisition advisory expertise and federal procurement relationships to help government contractors successfully deliver their solutions to Federal agencies via the government procurement process. He is recognized for his outstanding commitment and contribution to mission support through effective acquisition strategies.

Tommy Benton is a former procurement and acquisition professional with 36 years of experience within the Department of Defense (DoD) and the US General Services Administration (GSA). He has also worked post-retirement as a consultant, instructor, and Federal Government contracting subject-matter expert. While a Senior Procurement Analyst within GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service, Tommy served as Chief of Policy (acting) in the Multiple Award Schedules (MAS) Policy Division and held Level III certifications as FAC-C, FAC-COR, and FAC-PPM.
